Customstone Solid Surface: Care and Maintenance

Customstone is a solid surface product which means the color goes all the way through the material unlike laminates such as Formica which are a thin plastic glued to particle board. Customstone is non-porous which makes it impervious to stains and inhospitable to mold and bacteria growth. Proper care of Customstone will ensure the product maintains its appearance, durability, and luster for many years to come. Just beware the following:

  • DO NOT place hot pots, skillets, crock pots, slow cookers, or other heat generating appliances directly on Customstone without use of a hot pad or a trivet with rubber feet. Usually, brief accidental contact with hot objects will not damage Customstone, however, hot objects should NOT be placed directly on the product for extended periods of time.
  • DO NOT expose Customstone to strong chemicals such as paint removers, oven cleaners, or nail polish. If contact occurs, quickly flush the surface with water.
  • DO NOT cut or chop directly on Customstone. If cuts are made on the Customstone , refer to the table below for removing cuts and scratches.

There are three types of finishes: Matte, Satin and Glossy. Soapy water or ammonia-based cleaners will remove most dirt and stains from all types of finishes. However, slightly different techniques must be used to remove difficult stains or scratches depending on the finish. Follow the recommendations in the table below to properly care for your Customstone product.
