Customstone Solid Surface: Colors and Options

Customstone is available in several different styles to meet your new home construction and remodeling needs. Customstone is available in the Premiere Series, Texture Series, Solid Series, Granite Series, and Summit Series. Customstone is also available in three different surface finishes: matte, satin, and gloss.

As a general rule, light colors brighten rooms and hide dust and wear; medium colors are great for everyday use without showing debris, wear and tear; and dark colors look great with proper care, but are best in limited use areas.

Premier Series

The Premier Series offers two of our most popular neutral tone granite patterns at an extremely affordable price. The natural hue of these two colors will blend well with many interior color schemes and ceramic kitchen and bath fixtures such as white, biscuit, linen, and beige.

Customstone Finish Guide

Three finishes are available for your Customstone product: Matte, Satin, and Gloss. The difference between the finishes is the grit of sandpaper or polishing material we use on the final step of your Customstone. Customstone has no coating or sealer, therefore, if necessary, your finish can be changed to any other finish at a later time for an additional charge. All three of the finishes have advantages and disadvantages. The finish that is ideal for you depends on the color you choose, the amount of wear and tear the surface will experience, your willingness to perform occasional maintenance, and personal preference. In all cases, scratches can be removed and the finish can be completely renewed with our Care & Maintenance Kit.

Matte: Great for hiding scuffs and scratches. Surface can be scoured directly with Scotch-Brite and Softscrub without any follow-up finishing required. Works best with light colors. Darker colors tend to look dry or ashy with a Matte finish.

Satin: Because of the smoothness of this finish, colors stand out more and stains wipe away a little more easily than with the Matte finish. Great for medium or dark colors. Application of Pledge furniture polish easily provides a semi-gloss appearance without the high maintenance requirements of a glossy finish.

Gloss: Dark and medium colors look great with a glossy finish, however, scuffs and scratches from everyday use will be more visible, particularly on darker colors. These scratches are usually sufficiently masked by reapplying a polishing compound or Enhance Counter Top Polish that is similar to waxing a car. Scouring with Softscrub also requires reapplication of the polishing compound or Enhance Counter Top Polish to restore the full shine.

Light Colors Medium Colors Dark Colors
Textures

Matte: Great for hiding scuffs and scratches; provides a drier natural stone look.

Satin: For excellent cleanability. The texture particles give the Satin finish a Matte look and feel.

Glossy: Not recommended. Gives a plastic Formica look.

No medium colors are available in the Textures Series. No dark colors are available in the Textures Series.
Solids

Matte: Provides a natural stone look; great for masking scuffs and scratches; absence of texture or granite particles makes masking wear desirable.

Satin: Provides slightly more stain resistance than Matte, but scratches stand out more.

Glossy: Not recommended. Gives a plastic Formica look.

No medium colors are available in the Solids Series. No dark colors are available in the Solids Series.
Granites & Summits

Matte: Great for masking scuffs and scratches; provides a soft look.

Satin: Provides slightly more stain resistance than Matte, but scratches stand out more.

Glossy: Not recommended. Causes a plastic Formica look.

Matte: Not recommended. Provides an ashy dull finish.

Satin: Great balance between a semi-gloss appearance while minimizing care & maintenance. Granite particles tend to mask wear.

Glossy: Provides a more brilliant color and sheen, but requires added care & maintenance.

Matte: Not recommended. Provides an ashy dull finish.

Satin: Colors still look great, but care & maintenance is greatly reduced. Essential in high-use areas.

Glossy: These colors look so good with a glossy finish that you may not mind the added care & maintenance required.

Customstone Color Disclaimer

Please note that the color samples shown above may not precisely reflect actual color. As in all color products, batch to batch variation may be experienced. In addition, dark colors with a glossy finish will require more maintenance to keep surface glossy. Customers are strongly encouraged to obtain samples by visiting our showroom prior to final selection. The selection of colors is subject to change without notice.
